Setting up a 220G Predator Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
leopard sharks are almost impossible for the home aquariast to keep. they need tanks ranging in the thousands of gallons, the tanks need to be rounded, and they also need to have a chiller as they are used to colder waters

nothing short of 10,000 gallons for a leopard, and i could be wrong but i believe that it is illegal for anyone to sell leopard sharks, i know there was a ban a few years back, i think it is still enforced,

after writing this last statement, i did some research, and only leopard sharks over 36" are legal to be sold or collected

that is way to big for your 220

i would look more at the bamboo's or other cat sharks, i have one in my 240 and he is awesome, the less light you have on the tank the more active he is

As already stated, Leapoards can only legally be attained and sold at atleast 36" which already needs a tank of atleast 3,000 gallons and a full tank of around 10,000 gallons for life. Big Al's has an infamous reputation for keeping sharks in ill-suited enviroments. I deal with Big Al's on a regular basis and can assure you they do not know much about sharks. If your serious about keeping a shark, first do LOTS of research, ask LOTS of questions, and know the only shark that can stay in a 220 for life is a Coral Cat Shark. Also please go out and purchase "Aquarium Sharks & Rays" By Scott Michael. Also please not you will need heavy filteration, minimum rock work, and lots of open space and a VERY fine substrate perferable an aragonite.
