Setting up a 340gal ray tank - need help stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As you are making the tank yourself why does it need to be a standard size like 24" tall if the doors are 30" wide then go 28-29" tall
It's your tank so any size can be made

Also the door maybe 30" wide but if your remove the door frame of just the door trim you can make the door another 2-4" wider and it's very easy to do

As for glass vs acrylic I have had both and do think glass is better
Everyone uses the acrylic is lighter and clearer but you can get opti white glass now which is clear as acrylic and yes it's more expensive but you only need to install opti white on the front panel the rest can be standard
As for acrylic being lighter unless you wank to carry the tank around like a backpack every day the lightness doesn't matter

I will go as tall as possible, 24" plus a couple inches. Acrylic is too expensive anyways. The glass alone is $1100, dont even wanna know the price of the acrylic.

So Im trying to estimate how long I have to finish the tank. I will do it as fast as I can but it would br nice to estimate how much I have to spend every month on the tank each month.
I changed my order a bit, p14 will have to wait, Id rather have more money to spend on the tank for now. But I was thinking about adding a couple motoros, 2 females, they should arrive in beginning of august at 6" (disc size).
My male motoro has grown 3" since I got him a year ago and is now 10".
I will divide the tank if he will show too much aggression towards the females.
The tank is a standard 125g, filtration gives the tank 10x turnovers per hour.
How long do I have until I have until the 3 rays are too big for the 125g?
I was thinking about trying to finish the project by the end of the year, but I just want to know how long I will have?
I know its hard to estimate each rays growth, but just estimsting the time I have would be of great help.
