Setting up a Aquarium tomorrow in a Child Care Center

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
use shoals of little fish like zebra danios as they are hardy and great to look at alsosome shrimps as they are different and unusual maybe some corys as well. what about plants i know they not needed for african fish but if u dont go for that type u may want to plant things

what about an automatic 7day feeder?

I ate through my budget today. I picked up a 75g versa top to keep stuff and people out. Epoxied a set of heavy duty magnetic catches I had inside the cover. The rest was spent on 25 lbs of Walnut, 25 lbs of blend o the river, and 15 llbs of Berry Lake red gravel for some color and 3 4-packs of Water Wonders 6" Hairgrass, 9" and 12" Foxtail 18" Hygrophelia.

It came out pink.

I filled, washed decorated, plugged in and tested everything out. I need 30 more pounds of gravel. I was thinking about mixing in a 15 pound bag of Flourite I have in the basement and 15 pounds of black. And I need a lot more plants. 2 more 4 packs of the same deal and I'll port over some parrots feather after it gets going.

The other thought I had was to hit up the Ceramics studios for some pottery lets overs. Maybe peg a student to make something for the tank? Do you guys think painted and glazed pottery wold be okay?

Stock is going to be assorted Tetras by the way. Ghost shrimp or amano are also a good bet, so no loaches. No monsters either. :(

A lot of pottery is used for food so the glazes have to be safe, have to check what glaze was used

I think pottery will be fine, clay is OK in tanks, and a glaze will make it impervious to water. I say do it.

Still think (if you can) go for 1 or 2 african fan shrimp to relax my bro just lays by the tank and just stares at it  they are fine with small fish and shrimp cause they are filter feeders

I stocked the tank today.

6 Cardinal Tetra

6 Columbian Red and Blue Tetra

6 Pristella Tetra

10 Von Rio(Flame) tetra. Orange varient.

6 Albino Aenus Cories

6 Panda Corries.

I'm going to go a few weeks and see what lives and what dies and what the kids like the most and adjust the stock from there. I'm also going to introduce shrimp and some live plants as the tank adjusts. Java moss on coconut shell and java moss. And a Bristlenosed pleco after that.

only if they made a job of stocking fish and installing set-ups i would would defintley apply for that one lol. good luck with the tank. i heard the zebra danios are hardy and stay together. i used to have an angelfish that my niece just stared at when she was like 2 my tank was at the bottom of the steps and she would just sit on the steps and watch them for like a half hour lol.

Don't forget the "DO NOT TAP ON GLASS" sign!;)
