I am buying a 150 gallon glass tank and would like several opinions about potentially seting it up.

I understand that filled the tank should way in the ballpark of 1200lbs plus any stand and equipment.

Situation
I live on the main floor of a small somewhat older house. The house has a basement that I have no access to (the landlord uses it for storage). So, I will not be able to check and see which direction the support beams go. The house has a cinderblock foundation that is 28" above the ground (meaning i walk up 28 inches of stainr to get into my house). I have been planning on putting the tank in a corner of the living room that will be along two exterior walls.

Questions
-Should I be comfortable setting up the tank in that corner?
-Does anyone know which direction the large beams go?Idealy I'd like to set the tank up perpendicularly to those.

Thank you

What kind of house is it? (i.e. ranch, shotgun, etc). If its a shotgun, usually the joists will run the short distance across the house.

I think as long as you place it against an exterior or load bearing wall, you won't have any problems, no matter which way the joists run. I had a 125g tank running lengthwise along the joists on a non-load bearing wall, in a 110 year old house, and it didn't bow the joists any measurable distance after 2 years. I also have a 125g tank running across the joists against an exterior load bearing wall, and don't have any troubles there either.

Im not sure exactly what type of house it is, I believe its a small ranch. The living room is 15' x15'

I feel a little more confident reading your input. Thank you

Thank you for the link. After reading the article, Im still not sure so I may just store the tank for the time being.

You could just ask your landlord. :)

Yea. The landlord would be little help. If he did say its alright, I doubt he really would understand what he agreed to.

I was able to find out the floor joists run perpendicular to (16" between each) where I'd like to setup the tank. So the tank would be setup on three joists and on two exterior walls constructed by cinderblock
