To the OP, whether you think the landlord knows anything about a tank or not, you should still talk to him about it. Personally, I'd be P'd if I rented out a house and they filled a big tank without at least talking to me first. Especially if I was using the basement/crawlspace for storage. You might be lucky and have another MFKer for a landlord. If a tennant talked to me about putting in a big tank, I'd be happy to reinforce the floor to support it. Chances are, if someone sets up a tank like that, they aren't planning on going anywhere soon.
