Setting up overflow. Have a few questions.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes that's to adjust the height. The higher the water lvl the more water capacity of your tank. More water, more stable. Some like it lower for asthetics and it can help the return pipe act like a waterfall and break the water surface for more oxygenated water.

You can use flex tubing but just make sure to use the good anti kink ones. Kinks in a sump system can be a nightmare. I haven't used flex tubing in awhile so maybe someone else can help you with that. I use PVC to connect all my plumbing.

Do you use the PVC blue cement to attach it? Is that stuff fish safe?

I used the clear one. It's fish safe once it cures. Which is pretty quick maybe 24hrs. Read the instructions jus to make sure.

Just got all the stuff I need from Home Depot to finish the plumbing into the trickle tower im going to rig up. All the tubing, pvc parts, and the bulkhead to go into the tower were like $75 holy crap tubing and bulkheads are expensive.

No problem! Post pics after your done. Can't wait to see!

Here's the finished product. 75 gallon south american grow out tank for juvenile severums. Excuse the mess of wires I need to tuck those up. This filter works better then any canister or HOB I have used. Very quiet and effective filtration plus dirt cheap! Spend the extra money on good media where it counts and go with a sump whenever possible is my advice.

Sry been MIA... Looks amazing!

Thank you! So easy to do maintenance with this design. I change out the filter floss on my filters weekly and it's so easy to pull out the drawer and swap the floss. If this tank ends up in a living space of my house I'm going to finish the stand by wrapping in in some nice wood and adding doors. If it is destined for the fish room it's perfect as is.
