Since L24 cactus are banned and have all been abducted from the planet. I've settled for the common L200 Phantom pleco. I think I'll buy a bigger one so it can go straight in with my Oscar. Any warnings? I understand they are omnivores and relatively brave once settled in. Any common illnesses to this species I should watch for?

Never owned a green phantom but have heard of them being kinda delicate.

I agree if you dont acclimate them properly they tend to die off really fast.

Mine was an idiot and burned the crap of out itself camping out next to the heater.

Well really thats your fault. Heater guards are very inexpensive.

Okay. Thanks for the input. I've already learned how to differentiate demantoides from subviridis. I can get both right now, but like the subviridis better due to its larger adult size. Five inches for a pleco just isn't monster. Eight is a little better.

My LFS has them, but is treating them for ich so I have to wait awhile to see which ones look the best after treatment.

So far so good! He loves zucchini and I see him come out to eat in the day. Dream of a pleco, this one.

Love my green phantom....You will love yours as he settles. Mine is not shy in the least and will actually defend his space with the large geo's in the tank. They have learned to NOT dig in his space.

Not really.. they are very easy to take care of.. just watch out for overfeeding and you should be fine..

BTW... just so u know.. L24 and L25 have a substitute.. L114.. not as colorful but still a great looking exotic pleco.. Why not try it? They are in season right now.. and u can get them from Snookn21 the MFK vendor...
