Settling for L200. Any warnings?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They can be delicate, but not too bad once they are acclimatised.
They are actually herbivores and shouldn't have a lot (if any) animal protein in their diet. They will gobble down meaty foods very happily, but it's not good for their digestive system. I feed my L128 and L200 (both the same species) on deshelled peas, courgette, cucumber, lettuce, pepper, almond leaves (they love!) .... spirulina tabs and algae wafers. They do get some meatier foods though if the clown loach don't clear everything up immediately.

Though this is great pleco advice, this is not how they live in the wild. They are found full of hair algae and insect larvae, as well as granite clay. Obviously, to be on the safe side I am feeding primarily veggies, but I do try to get him "bloodworms" (frozen fly larvae) occasionally. The hair algae is beginning to grow in my tank now, so we'll see if he figures that one out. Thanks for the feeding tips. Always appreciated.

BTW... just so u know.. L24 and L25 have a substitute.. L114.. not as colorful but still a great looking exotic pleco.. Why not try it? They are in season right now.. and u can get them from Snookn21 the MFK vendor...
Oh, I know! I saw the L114 and wanted it immediately. I thought it was a fine replacement for our spiky fish of yesteryear, but the female counterpart shared not the sentiment. *sigh*

Not really.. they are very easy to take care of.. just watch out for overfeeding and you should be fine..

Yes as Zero has said L-114 are very cool have 2 myself. But L-24 is my dream pleco that I:( will never own.

Back to the L200. I've had mine awhile now and he's looking a little thin. How often does one feed their pleco? I've been doing every other day. Looks like I should up it to daily. I've been shoving pellets and Aro sticks into the zuchinni. I'm pretty sure he's getting them, but the sunfish are so fast I can't be sure. :(
