Thanks Rambo. do you still feed some feeder in the mean while or you just let her starve for few weeks?

I fed her some feeders before hand to fatten her up so she wouldnt starve during the "training" process. They just get hungry enough to chase the shrimp rather than starve alltogether. I find Mala's tend to have the occasional 3 week or so period where they starve themselves dispite me offering feeders or shrimp - im not sure why this is but it does seem common with keeping malas.

Best of luck in trying to get yours off feeders - definately the best choice for your fish in the long run. I do still give her the occasional feeder as a treat but i raise the fry of my rainbow cichlids and kribs for this purpose.

JP, was that you eyeing the Gold wolves at Shark Aquarium this past weekend?

yea that's me. you the one that bought the gold wolf or his friend?

Was trying to decide between the gold wolf, hoplias sp. misiones and the microlepis. I really like how active the golds were (one tried to bite my finger off) and almost got one but microlepis final won the battle as the gold wolves are not doing it for me on the look department. (color is great but just the profile)
