Several types of morays commonly caught in Indonesia's rivers

Free from the river, but like you they cant be caught all year. I have had them about 2 months, no mortality until today. Though some had eggs when first caught, no idea what come of those?
I believe the eggs/fry need full salt water

I doubt it. These were caught 40 miles upstream. That's a long journey.

There are about 200+ members of the genus Macrobrachium, and some of these actualy are purely freshwater creatures (the larvae does not need brackish water to grow) while the rest does need some degree of salinity. Unfortunately, the natives here are not familiar with latin names of the shrimps they catch everyday, so identifying them is rather difficult. To them all macrobrachium shrimps are "freshwater shrimps", except for species like Macrobrachium Rosenbergii, which are distinct from other species due to its unique claw colors and body size. They gave the name "udang galah" for M. Rosenbergii.
