Dont do that, more than our fair share of sulcatas is looking for home in a saturated marked A bigger toise that is good to keep indoors most of the time is the red foot tortoise wich also has the advantage of a relatively grocery store diet. Sulcata and leopard owners dont have the same advantage

has anyone used just plain millet seed as a substrate for beardies? its edible, absorbent, and inexpensive..it allows burrowing, spreads and retains heat like tile... i keep my beardie on a combo of granite tile and repticarpet, now that he is around 9 months old, i'm going to give the millet bedding a try.. i guess as long as you clean up poo spots well, mold and moisture shouldnt be an issue..

about calcisand- have you ever taken a handful of calcisand and put it in a cup of water? it beads up and floats. doesnt seem very digestible to me.
