Who keeps these fish? If I am trying to take a picture or I get real close to the tank to get a closer look at something, within 10 seconds I get this big yellow Severum right in front of my face.

Are these guys just attention seekers?

They are quite funny to watch. I have 3 of them. One will chase the other, then the third will see them do it and race halfway across the tank to chase the first one.

Ive always wanted an Oscar too. Anyone know how they would do with loaches, leopard bush fish and a whole heap of cats? (raphael, tandanus, raphael, mystus, pictus, hoplo, berneys)

I have a red headed sev, smallest fish in the tank and he nips fins at everyone else and no one messes w him. Very pretty fish too.

I have 7 in my tank and you cant even walk by the tank with out them all shooting to the top of the tank and swimming back and forth rapidly begging for food lol they have awesome personality I had 1 that was 10 years old and just lost him this summer and out of every fish I've had in this hobby (which is almost every fish you can think of) he's was my most favorite fish I've ever owned so I'm hoping one of my grow outs turn out like him because he was just awesome

Oscars will eat anything that will fit in its mouth. In a year, anything under 4 inches will not be safe. Otherwise, I have not had any that were aggressive with bottom dwellers. Your mileage will vary with the individual fish as well.

I have a Green Severum in my community tank with a Leopard Ctenopoma, an zebra loaches some only about an inch. Ive never has a problem with them. An actually the GS an the Ctenopoma seem to be quite friendly with each other.

I have 2 greens, two golds, and 4 reds in my 125 and they all come to the front of the tank when you walk by or look at them. These are not shy fish. Love them.
