Severum being bullied

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't sweat losing fish just yet, try moving the bp and see how that goes ..... even a big sev can be in a 55 for a little while( giving you time to upgrade),,,,,,,:)

You could try removing all/most of the décor out of your tank, by removing the bogwood / rocks the fish will have nowhere to defend as their territory. The severum should be able to hold its own with the other two fish mentioned. When young severum can be misleading as they are very peaceful fish but as they grow that changes. In my experience there is very little aggression with south American cichlids, most of it is just show, it never leads to any fish being killed or injured. Note I am only referring to south American cichlids here not the Central American Cichlids which tend to be a lot bigger and often do not mix well in a community tank set up for cichlids.

The severum is full grown and I can't take all the decor out its in the kitchen and my parents wouldn't like that. When should I know to move him out? I don't think its too bad and he seems so be trying to defend himself a little more. He's the biggest fish in the tank so I don't know why he let's other fish bother him.

I'm moving the bp out. Do you think I could add maybe a gold severum to replace him? I feel like the tank doesn't have a lot of color. Or maybe a small BP so it can grow up with them?

I moved the BP and he killed my Senegal. Some how he bit its head off. He was one of my favorite fish. Thanks for that suggestion!!!!

HAHA
Well lets be honest.
Why would you have a Severum with a JD and Blood parrot anyway?
Severum are in no way equipped to handle those cichlids. Best case scenario, is it lasts for a while, but eventually it will be dead in a tank like that.

Well your rude. And I was told they could be together on this forum and several others. Plus all cichlid have different personalities
