Nice catch man!
1+ on this, as a Florida fisher myself I'm curios!

Just out of curiosity about what size are these in general? Also what are you using that you are catching them so easily? Thanks again for sharing this.

They put up a decent fight but the biggest one was only about 7". And they were eating canned corn but i believe that you can just us about any food on a small hook. The problem is finding these fish in the canal. I fished canals for the past couple years and never seen them anywhere else..

The ones with the brighter yellow/green bodies, black spots, and red bellies/fins look like notatus. It could easily be that they're hybrids of greens and notatus. Greens/turquoise will have blue and red markings while notatus usually have more yellow/green colors with black spots.

Did you put any in tanks? It'd be nice to get in-tank shots. It's hard to tell much when they're out of the water. I need to come fishing with you -- I'm up in central Florida but I'd love the chance to catch my own severums. :D When I stayed with my dad in Miami about 10 years ago, we caught port cichlids in the canal behind his apartment building. It was so much fun to see them in the "wild."
