Ok so recently we got some new fish and a red spotted gold severum was one of them. Hes been eating well and he swims fine but when he stays still he tends to shift upwards at a 70 degree angle. I think hes fine but my brother is really worried so i wanna know what you guys think. Ammonia and nitrite are at 0 and ph is at 7. Thanks in advance

We have south american cichlids like fire mouths and some parrot cichlids. Theres also plecos and a red tail shark. The tank is 180 gallons

It could be an aggression issue from another cichlid, where the severum is acting sub dominant or looking out for the aggressor. I've had other cichlids swim this way after taking a beating. It could also be a stress issue.

I would worry if there is labored breating or lack of eating.

My chocolates do this every time my dat moves around underneath them. Guess he pushed his weight around a couple times and they get in defense position to snap at him when he's just cruising.
