Those are beautiful pictures of your severums and also beautiful gorgeous severums.. mine are growing fast ..the gold ones have already caught up to the pair i had a whole year before so i think the stock of genes makes the big difference and second of all that you do your daily water changes and keep them so healthy.. here are mine ..the gold about 5-6 inches and a little over a year..the greens are 2.5 years old.

Thank you..i love the gold as yours is a beauty..and they are so photogenic..the greens are constantly changing color..sometimes so dark i can hardly see them:D

I like greens more than gold, especially the dark color with red belly.

You've got some nice sized sevs, then y havent they got the red markings yet? Whats the tanksize and how many of these guys have u got?

Those are some beauties

Is so strange to see fish from so many differant gene pools all around the world.

Heard a rumour that there may infact be more then one species of "Green Severum" out in the wild. (not taking into account the severums mouth brooding cousin)

Based on not only the huge (yet subtle) range of colour morphs, as well as body shape, fin shape and behaviour, id have to agree.

Could possiblly be down to segregation of habitat.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Aint had a good rant about severums in ages lol

i have 4 severums...2 gold and 2 greens.. in 125gal ..i would like to get a red shoulder some day..if i see a bigger one. :D

Well as most of you probably know, basically all of the 'Severum's in the hobby are actually Heros efasciatus, a very close cousin to the severus. They're essentially the same fish, minus them being a substrate spawner as opposed to a mouthbrooder if my memory serves me correctly.

As for the the person who said they like the dark Severums with the strong red bellies, my Severum is actually a very dark olive/black, my photos are taken with flash so she gets lit up into a green. Have no non-flash photos handy unfortunately.
