Severum stocking?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if u want them to be comfortable i would say between 6 & 8.

Are you high?

One is the correct answer. An adult severum needs 50 gallons to itself when full grown. Two paired severum need 75 gallons. If you want to breed them, your 75 will work for a mated pair, but only one single severum. If you want more, you will need a bigger tank.

If it were me, I would stock one severum with some lemon tetra dithers and four small geos. That would be my personal preference though. :)

Agreed no way you could do 6 to 8... you must have never owned a full grown sev. Personally I would say 2 max with other smaller fish. I have 3 in my 165 with a assortment of other stuff

Ok, well here's the story.
I got a 75 gallon with two female sevs and a male. There's a 7" female, 3" male, and another 2" female.

I picked them up from a tank with water that was borderline sewage.

Under better circumstances and proper conditions will they grow any more?

Only time will tell if they are stunted. Monitor them for the next 2-3 months and if they don't grow anymore, then you will likely see very little to no more growth from them.

Something you might think about is the 7" female is close to full grown and will likely start to get a little territorial if they all continue to grow. That 75 will be a slaughter house in 3-4 months if they all continue to grow at a normal rate.

I really have doubts for their growth...
The two small ones have spawned in the QT tank already!

And for a better idea of the place they came from, Instead of pulling filter cartridges out of the filter, I pulled out a solid 6 by 6 block of sludge. The large female seems very peaceful and well-mannered and will even take food from my hands.

She's a very accomplished beggar as well!
