Hello!

I'm building a large paludarium that measures 68 inches long, 24 inches wide and 54 inches tall. The aquatic section will be 68 inches long, 24 inches wide and 24 inches tall. This amounts to approximately 169 gallons. I want to have a severum but, I'm curious what tank mates my work out with one. I'm open to any suggestions or pointers.

My current stock list is:
8 Cherry Barbs
8 Snakeskin Barbs
20 Cory Cats
3 Bristlenose Plecos
30 Blackskirt Tetras
5 silver dollars OR 15 silver hatchetfish
1 Severum/Angelfish/Something of similar size that's not gonna slaughter everything

I would not trust a severum with cherry barbs, personally. Never had either, but the size difference is pretty big and I have seen accounts of them on this website eating smaller fish.

You might want to go with the angelfish if the cherry barbs are a must have.

Would the angelfish get torn up by the black skirt tetras? I get conflicting info on the behavior of both black skirt tetras AND angelfish

With 30 black skirt tetras, chances are very good that the angelfish would be fine. The larger the school, the more fin nipping schooling fish keep to themselves.
I might worry more with 6-12, but 30 is a good step towards success IMHO.

Okey doke, as for the angelfish, would they fair better with silver dollars or silver hatchetfish? And should the angelfish be kept in groups of any particular size or singly? Sorry for the questions, I've just been so afraid of keeping angels I know little about them.

I'm afraid I'm not as familiar with angelfish as with black skirt tetras etc. What I do know is that Seriously Fish recommends keeping a group, but can't tell you much beyond that.

If your paludarium is going to be open, you won’t have the silver hatchets for very long. They jump.

What substrate are you going to use. I learned the hard way that course substrate will kill Cory cats.
I assume it's going to be planted tank? If so skip the dollars as they are plant eating machines. My 12 would eat two leaves of Romania lettuce a day.

Severums are pretty much harmless to anything but very small fish and plants in my experience. Your list should all be compatible with it.
I do agree on the plants though. Sevs and silver dollars absolutely destroy them.
