Severum tips n pics

i saw a huge gold for sale at this place in wilmington, de called greenbank aquatics. he was probably pushing 10". this was a few weeks ago and idk if youre anywhere near there though.

as far as attitude, theyre all over the board. my two severums, about 5" and 6", are in a 75 with several acaras and larger tetras. they definitely let it known theyre in charge, but theyre not terrors. theyve even tried to breed a couple times and they dont get too nasty. but ive heard of some that are really mean though.

I've found they are nowhere near as peaceful as their reputation.
I have some at the moment in a 210 gallon 7 foot tank and they are by no means peaceful.
I have had many central American cichlids show less aggression.
If you want to chance a large Severum in the confines of a 75, carry on.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

lol lol really. I’ll be careful. I like the severum. I really just want one big fish. No other cichlids or anything. I currently have a few small fish tho.
What tank mates did you have.?

Cool. I’ll try to look it up. Yes I agree with you tho. I’ve seen some that’s mean and others that’s very peaceful.
I don’t plan to get other cichlids with the severum

I had a pair of heros liberifer go through a school of 20 tetras in about 2 weeks. And the liberifer were only in the 4-5" range. Yours won't stand a chance if you actually manage to find an adult severum to add to your tank.

Most vendors won't have them available at adult sizes very often. Tangled Up In Cichlids would definitely be the place to go.

Peaceful with flowerhorn fry and I've kept them with jaguars & a good size silver arowana. They definitely hold their own.

Thank you. What you're looking for aren't hard to find but the size you're looking for will be. I think you'll enjoy watching a young one grow out. Good luck!

Lol thanks. I currently have one. I’ve watch him grow a little. But I’m not a fan of him. He runs everytime he sees me smh
