Is it normal for Severums to stay at the top of the tank pointing their bodies upward (almost vertical)?

I have a green Severum and he often hangs out at the top of the tank opposite the filter in my 55G tank. Is this normal severum behavior?

Are the fins clamped when he does this? Do you notice anything just by looking at the fish, something different in other behaviors maybe a physical difference from other fish?

i have a green severum and he doesn't do that. is he by himself?maybe some other fish is stressing him out,i don't know.i hope he's ok.........=)

Yo leah, what did it turn out to be in yours? swim bladder or something else?

hes completely fine now..so honestly no clue..
I upgraded their tank from a 90 to a 125ish tank..so idk.
but i dont see him do it anymore.

No, his fins are not clamped when he does this. It seems to be after eating. He's only about 4 inches and he's in a 55G with a Blue Acara and a Firemouth (both smaller than the Sev). The FM does pick on the Sev more than the Acara (who does the same to the Sev). So maybe this is it.

My Sevs are constantly doing goofy things like that. he may very well be fine...they are known for their odd behavior. Make sure your water parameters are in check and just keep an eye on him.

Yeah, the water parameters are fine, i.e. no ammonia, no nitrite, low nitrate. However, it is LA tapwater so the ph is pretty high. Could that be the problem?
