My Green Severums spawned! The only thing that is a little odd is that the female is 5 inches and the male is around two inches. The female is swimming right above the eggs guarding them and the male is a little furthur above her guarding. How long does it take for the eggs to hatch? Some of the eggs are turning white and it looks like the female is eating the bad ones. Also I have read that severums are hard to breed in an aquarium, is this true? The reason I ask is because my seem to have formed a pair rather easily, I bought the female about a year ago and recently bought the male and within months they have already spawned.:)

At that size, I don't think you male would be mature enough to fertilize the eggs. So I would assume none of the eggs are viable. The white ones have fungus on them and the female will eat those so as they don't spread it to the other eggs.

I know a quite a few people who breed them so I don't think they are that hard to breed.

i love when my severums spawn, i have never rasied fry as they got eaten by my perruno catfish, good luck with the eggs/fry.
