Severums & Tetras?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sevs will eat any tetras that they are large enough to eat...so anything not high bodied or large will eventually get eaten. Same with rams too, unfortunately.

I'd go with silver dollars, congos or other larger characins...

Matt

I like the idea of silver dollars but was afraid that the tank would be overstocked with the red sev, 10 buenoa aires tetras, and two balloon rams also. If not, I'd give that a try. Maybe 6 of them?

In terms of tetras, I was considering adding 10 or so lemon tetras or cardinal tetras due to the color. How do you think these would do with the above stock?

I'm thinking my final stock will be:

1 red severum
2 balloon rams
10 Buenos Aires tetras
20 other tetras (possibly 10 lemon tetras and 10 cardinals)
1 bristlenose pleco

How does this sound? Would I be overstocked in a 55 gallon tank?

Now im down to one rasbora. They all have been going mia at night...during the day its like nothing was wrong.

how about just one kind of tetra...

I'd like a couple different varieties, but I'm leaning toward cardinals for the coloration. I was asking strictly number wise though. Are 30 tetras along with a red severum and two balloon rams overstocked?
