Severums with Bichirs and Catfish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been told that multiple Severums in 1 tank, particularly a smallish one is asking for trouble.

If you have a pair, they will chase the other fish in the tank when they try and breed.
And if you have multiple of either female or male in particular, that will cause fighting too.

Does this not happen??

If you have a pair, they will chase everyone around. That's true with almost all fish. If you have two of the same gender, there is no guarantee that you won't have problems, but I've had males together in the past with no problem at all.

everlastace,

How big is you tank that you had the multiple Severums in??

My syno had to go....he spent 60% of his time chewing on the sides of my ornate bichir....not sure all will be like that, but just a heads up.

Also my male gold severumbullies my slightly smaller male rotkeil severum quite a bit, I only have the two and I have a 5ft (450 litre) set up.

2 severums and 1 grey bichir would be a nice stock. You could do a grey bichir a severum and a eletric blue jack dempsey...
