Wondering what we might get if we cross our bp and red sot gold sevrum. Has this been done alot will body stay their short round shape.

Yup. South Amercian Cichlids can only hybridize with a few a few species or not even possible for some. Nearly all of the Central American Cichlids can hybridize with each other.
So that puts an end to the thought that the severum was used to create the bp. I have heard the red terror can cross with some of the CA's is that true.
The severum thing got started because of a mis-translated common name, they used that name because the (unkown) hybrid bearing the name superfically resembled a severum. And yes, I believe I too have seen pics of festae X CA hybrids somewhere.
Though I've yet to test this theory myself I believe it's true. Not sure exactly when but that project is slated for this year. Male syn to female Midas, this seems to be the cross with the most potential.
Keep having this funny thought about Archocentrus centrarchus too...the eyes. Look at a A. cen's eyes, they have that weird little squiggle shape to them, just like parrots and parrot hybrids. Not sure how common that is in Vieja/Amphilophus...?
iv never saw that fish in my life , but i just googled it and i can see it in the eyes.
id like some1 to pair a midas ans synspillum together to have a some proof . if it doesnt work then atleast its sumthing that can be crossed off
