Sevrum help!

It's as simple as this. The floor in your home has to be designed in such a way that people can stand in it shoulder to shoulder without any floor dropping or collapsing. General UK home building guidelines

OK thank you. I have read stories that the floor does not support the weight and it casued major structural issues?

If the difference of weight between your 50 and a 125 is going to overcome your floor, you need to move out right now. Seems that your floor is not safe for the weight of an extra human ..... be scared man and don't invite the neighbours round
I've never met a single human that weighed 750 lbs in my entire life.

And as spoken. It's the difference in weight not the total weight .... it already holds the 55 ... the difference isnt 750lbs is it ...

I believe if the floor was built to any type codes it would probably be okay, especially if the tank was set up across the joists instead of parallel.
In the end it’s pop’s call, it’s his home.
The only thing you could do to change his mind would be to look up load strength of the size wood and construction for the type floor you’re dealing with and prove it can handle the weight.
Good luck

A 50 gallon weighs around 500 pounds and a 125 gallon weighs around 1250 pounds, that is a difference of 750 pounds. I got your point that a floor designed to hold many many humans at a time should be able to support a 50 gallon or a 125 gallon, I was just pointing out that if the difference was 1 extra human it was 1 very big extra human.
