I kept kept mine in 44 corner tank lived for years will eat smaller fish especially when feeding they tend to get exited.

I was thinking of doing this very same thing, I hope it works out well for you!

you'll be fine with them in a 55g. i've had my pair in my 55g for just about a year now. the male is about 7" and female is 5.5". i had danios in the tank and they disappeared, i dont think it was the sevs through. i then had 4 giant danios and they did great in with the severums

What other fish did you have? I tried zebra danios with my pair of 6 inch gold severums and they disappeared the next morning. You'll be surprised how clever sevs can be in preying over fast moving fish.;)

i had them with 3 2.5" datnoids who would always have fat bellies in the morning after they disappeared. the danios were in the tank before the sevs, i put the sevs in at 3" and they were fine. they didnt start missing until the dats were added about 2 months later. they were maybe 4 inches or so at that time

Ahh..That explains why they disappeared.

A 55! I don't like the thought of 2 of them in there. There's nearly bugger all swimming space when they get to 8". What are the dimensions of the tank? Sorry if i sound like i'm flaming but the way of thinking for me is 'would i like to be stuck in a little box for the rest of my natural' no i wouldn't so a bigger more spacious tank is the way to go, or just have 1. I have the sevs that are in my sig and i'll still be choosing the best looking notatus and just keeping that and the red spotted, and even then when full grown i'll want a bigger tank.. My tank is 105ukg by the way..

if i remember right a 55 has dimensions 48x18x20 or 48x15x20. something close to that anyway. 2 sevs in there is pretty spacious. the rule of thumb is at least twice the fishes length for the tanks width and three times the fishes length for the tank length. a 55 is at least/close to twice as wide and six times as long so it far exceeds the acceptable recommended ratios.
