Was wondering if a 55g would be eneough for a sev as the centerpiece for the tank and have some tankmates just wondering cayse I really like the sevs color and I hear their peacful.

Severums are indeed mild mannered for cichlids. I have a breeding pair of gold sevs with my loaches. You could try some giant danios, loaches and doradids with them. If you do intend to buy young ones at 2 inches and below in size, they can grow quickly to 6 inches in half a year. At this point, growth rate eventually slows down. Feeding is not a problem at all.

What kind of loaches would be good cause i heard that clowns get 12" but it takes them along time to grow that big around 5-6 years I heard.

If you don't have plans to upgrade your tank at all, consider other choices.

Yoyo loach (Botia almorhae)-6 inches
Queen loach (Botia dario)-6 inches
Zebra loach (Botia striata)-4 inches
Ladder loach (Botia rostrata)-4 inches
Golden Zebra loach (Botia histrionica)-4 inches
