Can you all give me your opinion on this. Please? Thank you.

I believe this is a female. It has It's breeding dress on. It's trying to breed with what I thought was a female Black convict.
I need to make sure this is a female so I dont waste my time trying to catch it to breed it with my FH.

everybody says female but nobody says why!!! :nilly: what are you guys looking at in order to decide? trying to figure out the sex of my carpintis as well

Yes very true!
Details anyone?

If it is female. That's what I was hoping. I just moved her in a separated tank with my Flowerhorn. Two fine specimens. Fingers crossed, Hopefully they start bumpin' uglies. Black Convict is all pissed off I got rid of it's wifey, but a Carp/Con offspring is just wrong.

...but a flowerhorn/carpintis cross is okay? Then it isn't even a FH anymore.

The reason I am against the Con/Carp is because Con's are cheap, small, and ugly. Those fry would best be used for feeders. And aren't Flowerhorns themselves "hybrids" anyways?

My plan;

Carpintis female / Flowerhorn male then
(Best looking female from that batch) / The father (flowerhorn)
Then hopefully by that time, I will have found another good Flowerhorn of my preference (good Kok, pearl, blend, color) to breed with the best of those offspring.

I'm looking to produce a specific looking fish. And some of the attributes of the Carpintus is needed in my fish.

Mnay would argue this about all hybrid's, Flowerhorn included.

I would "suggest" female, with no real confidence, due to the more rounded body and plump abdomen.
