Mnay would argue this about all hybrid's, Flowerhorn included.

I would "suggest" female, with no real confidence, due to the more rounded body and plump abdomen.

Thanks for the input. And yes, I know what you mean about feeders/hybrid's being best used for feeders. I used to feel the same way. I have been coerced to the dark side. Sad but true. I would have hated me 3 years ago.

...but a flowerhorn/carpintis cross is okay? Then it isn't even a FH anymore.

just for your information. anything you cross with a flowerhorn the result is STILL a flowerhorn.

back to fish in question. appears to be a female to me in courting or breeding dress. could you do us all a favor and try to get some clearer pictures of the vent area. the fish doesn't have to be removed from tank to achieve this.

That is correct. It will then be a carhorn. Honk honk.

I'll try and get pics of it once I get the cam back from my brother. I'm thinking it's oval shaped though. Not sure though. Pics to come within a couple days.
My carp has lost it's breeding dress since I've put it in with my FH. I stressed her out pretty bad trying to scoop her out for 45 min in my tank. ( too big of tank and too much plants and driftwood). Making a nest though! thumbs up!

And thanks for the comment about FH crossbreeding Fishfreak. That's what I was thinking, but I didn't want to say it and look stupid just in case I was wrong.
