The one in the OP has more blue in its lower jaw than a typical male, and less than a typical female. We all know how to get a definitive answer - what's the point of a debate? Just net it out and take a look, and you'll know in 10 seconds. http://www.fishhead.com/articles/ventsex.htm

I posted a "sex-my-JD" thread myself before and it got closed. No reason given. I'm not the one that thinks JDs are not worthy.

I just looked up your threads, and that is strange, that they closed your thread. You should PM A section mod, and send them a link. I am sure it was a mistake. By the way you have a pair 100%

Sorry for the derail.

nice looking male, I just got one of these guys and I am starting to like JDs more and more.

im glad im not the only one to think normal jds are a great fish. i belive they are the number 1 most underrated cichlid. definatly one of the most comon, and there is a reason they are common, because they are awsome fish! same with oscars and convicts.

Thanks spizz. The two have since paired up and are pushing two other males around. Not too interested in finding out why my thread got closed, but sometimes I do feel weird when I see more JD sexing threads.

Sorry for the derail.
