By the black in the dorsal. Males dont have the splotch of black...if thats what that black is. Its hard to tell for sure from the pic.

I think you are right about the trimac being a female.
I had heard about the black on the dorsal, plus I ordered a male and female from Rapps and what I think was the male died. I think it was the male because it was larger, and had more color. Not much color in the corpse, but it might help.
