Sex My Jaguar Cichlid

have a pair in a 100 gallon and they're about 3 inches. the female is rubbing herself on the inside of a pot and the male is chasing away the other fish in the tank. could they be spawning?

They are a little small but it's possible.

how do i actually tell if they're a pair?

they well hang out together, they will race to catch up with the other almost looking to be first in line type action, mating dance, large exaggerated swishing back and forth. side nips, more of a push in the side than a real bite. and some lip locking. bad signs are gill attacks, full force bites at the gill or eye area. one fish usually the female hangs out at the top of the tank, in a corner or behind a intake or spray bar. your fish very young so, just keep an eye on them.

I love watching my Jags go through the mating dance, it is quite aggressive, but not real dmging. i have had to pull the male a few times because the female not ready, male jags do not take no for an answer. in his mind then she needs to go, sense he can not chase her off or leave he will beat the pee out of her and hope another ready female comes along.

my jags have been hanging out together and catching up together, they even share a pot together. when will they lip lock and do the mating call?
