So, I'm thinking its a female based on what I've read, but I'm not positive. Anyone care to verify.

This is the only pic I've been able to get so far, its a new fish for me and the ray only seems to like going up the back wall most of the time.

Wow the water does not look so good either. The disk should not be THAT red. Otherwise, it looks like a female. Can't really be for sure unless you take a close up pic.

Water is cloudy because I just switched from gravel to sand to accommodate the ray. I have been advised (and done some searching on my own) that cloudy water as a result of sand ISN'T an issue for the fish.

I'll try to get a better picture if it comes up on the front or sides of the tank again.

Also, could you advise whats going on with the red if it seems way too much? It has gone down, but its still got some pinkish color to it.

Redness may be due to ammonia burns from shipping. Need a better, clear & close up pic to determine the sex.

Found a pic on-line.....to sex....you are looking for claspers for male (on the right in the pic)....and no claspers for female.....when the ray is young, they just look like little pointy nubs.....this pic should illustrate...

but by how red that ray is....it may not matter....that is SO red...make sure you keep the water quality pristine.....and don't stress it out...you may lose the ray from the ammonia burn, or whatever is making it that red....
