The quikest way is to look at the anal and dorsal fins. In the male they will usually sport more pointed fins and in the female they will be more rounded. Also, depending how many you have in your tank you can always watch for the alpha male. He will be the one with the most territory and the most aggressive. The most sure fire way is to wait until they begin to breed, however i have seen my female lay the eggs but i knew what she was before the start of that. You can sometimes tell by the fins when they are young, But it is rare so pay attention as they grow. If anyone has other suggestions or wants to contradict me. please go ahead. This is the way iwas taught. hope it helps

Wrong. The ONLY real way to sex an oscar is by venting the oscar. There is no outside difference between a male and a female oscar. Unless they start breeding.

yup, this is the way with o's, though in jardons defence, many other cichlids sex can be judged to a certain degree by physical traits such as pointed anal fins, but not with o's.

Like i said this is how i was taught and it has seem to work for me over the last 20 years of keeping oscars b/c everytime i wanted a breeding pair i have picked out a female with rounded fins and a male with pointed fins and it has always seemed to work. The point is everyone has their own way and what works for them may not work for you. My way has proven it to me time and time again but maybe it hasn't worked for someone else. find what works for you (this goes along with the whole hobby in general) and stick with it.
