Tommy, yours looks a little young to be sure, but if I had to decide I'd say female. Usually males have a lot of speckles beneath their lateral line and females tend to hold more vertical bars in their pattern.

Looking more female to me. This is my male a couple months back, at probably around the same size as yours now, and one of him now around 7inches. Hope this helps

Pics aren't that great, but looks like male coloration/pattern. What do you have him int here with? He's all cut up

Him and the cuban battle it out every couple of weeks. I also have a jack Dempsey who never has any bites. So I suspect her also but I never confirmed it. I think she runs the tank as of now.
