i have 4 yellow labs imo 3 f and 1 m and also i have 2 blue johanni Melanochromis Cyaneorhabdos and i wish to breed them.they are about 1.5"-2".i think they are in breeding size.i want to know how to sex blue johanni and yellow labs.one of my blue johanni is very darkly coloured and other is slight fader both have 1 egg spots and always keep chasing each other and rotating and colourful one doing forcefull lip locks so i think it is a pair but am i correct please tell me.my labs are also chasing each other but not breeding yet.I wish to know if both johanni are male or both are female, can they breed with yellow labs as both of the species are mouthbrooders.so,please suggest me how can i induce breeding them or trigger breeding in them.I do water changes every 2-4 days and have temp. of 28-30 degree celsius as it is breeding temperature and sometimes giving them a bloodworm meal.so,plz tell me what else can i do to make them in mood ;).
thanks a lot

i think 1 egg spot is due to their immaturity and male one will develop more when it will get larger and female will stick on 1 or 2 egg spots.

i am also asking as i just bought 2 blue johanni and both came out to be male so they are little aggressive so,i want to ask if this aggression is short lived and will end in 2 or 3 months as they are newbie to each other or will it carry on forever.
PLZ help

one johanni has a distinct egg spot and other one's is very very colourless and diminished and its maybe she's body colour is also much dull that is with less distinct dark blue colour so i think it is a female and the male (bright dark blue coloured) is chasing her for breeding purpose.
