Sexing angels

Just curious. Is there anyway to visually tell the sex of angel fish? I know I could wait till they pair but that seems difficult since they school anyway.

Not until they get sexually mature then you can usually tell the males who start to get a thicker forehead like a mini nuchal hump.

^ Dominant females will develop a hump on the forehead as well. The only way to know for sure is when they start spawning -- females will have a more plump abdomen as she starts to produce eggs, then you'll see her breeding tube a few days before she lays.

+1 you gotta wait for that breeding tube. Discus and angels are both like this. You can have a idea as to what sex the fish is, but never sure until that tube drops. I've been suprised on multiple occasions.
