Just a gentle word of advice - try not to tell people to "go keep convicts"....it's not even fair to convicts.
As for your original question, MM was "spot on" in post #7.
I didn't say "go keep convicts." I said if you want fish you can just keep together that will breed for you, keep convicts. They're one of the few fish I've seen breed in overstocked holding tanks in conditions that were in no way set up for breeding. IME they are a great fish for someone who wants to start out breeding.
He expressed dismay regarding the information that vieja might be hard to pair/breed. Personally, I look forward to the challenge of breeding a difficult fish because it is more rewarding. I was also just giving chrisplosian a hard time, we got our fish from the same local supplier, and we've talked a bit about them. But, something directed specifically to him doesn't really need to be commented on by you, does it? It was more of a joke anyway, we all know he's not going to take his vieja back over this thread.
Lastly, I know YOU keep/kept argentea. So you popping in on this thread and really not contributing anything doesn't say much for you, does it? Am I not worthy of your actual knowledge on the subject? You could give your personal experience with the species like I originally asked. It would be a very welcomed and respected opinion. There are no hard feelings on this end of the computer screen over it b
