Sexing carpentis vontehillo

I was wondering how to sex these guys.

The other day I got 1 thats approx. 2 inches from Ira at the wish list. Beautiful fish. My 1st of this type.

I did notice that it gets a black bloch in the center portion of the dorsal fin during aggression.

That mean its female ?

How big do males and females get ?

How aggressive are they ?

IM STUCK RIGHT ALONG WITH YOU ...I BELIEVE THE BLACK SPOT ON DORSAL FIN IS A MALE BUT ITS MY 1ST SO IM NOT POSITIVELY CERTAIN.

Here is a more recent photo just taken of my vont.

Its about 3.5 inches.

What is it about this fish that would make you believe its a male or female ?

How big do males and females get ?

I can't be certain, but I think you have a female by looking at the roundness off the body. The black marking ain't a sure thing but if you look at the picture I posted....my female is on the right and she has a black spot on the dorsal fin.

A black blotch in the dorsal fin is a true indicator of female in the Carpinte.
