Looks like a female to me ,, guess so, but u don't put another in this size of a tank , the new fish get hunted down by the owner ,, If want a pair move it a 6ft , than put 2 males of similar or little large size , it might help

I don't think you will succeed in adding another aurantimaculata with this one, he's a bit too big now. I've tried to add another adult in a 6ft tank, plenty of plants and wood and the existing fish always manages to bully the new one. You might have luck adding other types of non threatening fish, but not a snakehead. Selling this one and starting with a group of juveniles is a better option

Thanx bro .. so what are my options for a tank mate?? This one male or female??

I've never kept other fish with larger snakeheads. I've kept smaller bichir species and plecos with small tropical species successfully, but that's about it. Anything small enough usually gets eaten, anything bright coloured and large usually threatens them and fights break out or they hide away. Getting a pair from a group is probably the safest option. Other than that, it's trail and error on what your individual fish will cohabit with. I don't know enough about subtropical species to advise you.

No fish will cohabit with Aurantis.
They are sub tropicals, which limits your choice so much that what you have left are going to get eaten.

Either accept that he's solo, or get a new batch of juvies.

Adding a mature Auranti in a mature auranti's tank is money thrown out the window.

Sometimes I wish I had taken pictures of the carnage my pair had done, with pieces of fish everywhere. Alas, I did not. It would have served as a good example of why you don't add fish in an established auranti tank. ;P
