sexing green sunfish and bluegill

I've caught DOZENS of fish that look just like the greengill!! When I went snorkelling this summer, I swam right up to a fish in it's nest, it looked like that one.

I've also caught some fish that look like a bluegill with an impossibly HUGE mouth!!

I have a fish right now, that I caught yesterday that looks EXACTLY like the one in the pic.

I don't know if you've figured it out by now, dut there is a pretty fool-proof method. Fish have two holes behind their anal fin. One is for poop and the other is their sex hole. I don't know what you call it on a fish so I call it the sex hole. On females the sex hole will be significantly bigger for pushing eggs out.

I just caught a green sunfish in california in a tiny creek, there was another one right behind it..
And I released the, probably male into a lake behind it full of bluegill. will they breed, i mean does it matter if it's a male or female green sunfish?
