sexing jaguar cichlid

yah, but females still have spots. Just not as prominent.
 
update. now ive noticed he/she is changing. it appears to be growing quite rapidly and its backround color has become really golden. the spots underneath the lateral line have become a little darker but there still aren't that many. Also the dark patches that run horizontally for the legnth of the fish have become quite a bit darker. i know its only been three days, haha, but i am very suprised about how fast the color is changing. does this mean its a male?

As already mentioned too small to tell for sure as of now...does looks female more than anything...but they most all look female until give or take the 5 inch mark or so.....since yours is growing fast hopefully we will be able to tell soon...

my female jag is a little over 6" now, she has has no stripes and is a gold with black markings, like JD dorsal and ventral fins will be rounded off at the ends for a female and pointed becoming trailing as they get older on the males. males will also get larger, and are more aggressive (if that's possible) than the females. not a good pic but here is one of her.
