Sexing my Dovii

id say cross...it definetely has some other parachromis in it, I do agree that the growth rate sounds dovii like. but the body shape is too tall and the spotting is too big to be pure dovii IMO
wherever u got it from could have very well thought it was, but today, there are so many hybrids and muts out there tht soetimes u end up with one
+1 I thought you were nuts at first to say not a female dovii but now with the new pics its definitely a cross. the head shape is too dovii like but the body says something different.
I'm on the fence, pattern is Dovii. Face looks too short Imo, lack of any blue is rare too ime, the females I had all had blue around the face...
Defo has Dovii in it with that growth, female gold mota could easily be confused with a female Dovii by an amateur then they sell the baby's as pure Dovii....
Could just be a more unusual shaped Dovii, fish of the same species come in different shapes and sizes just like people, especially if some in breeding has occurred in the tight Ozzy gene pool.
Who knows for sure.... No-one I guess.

i disagree, I think the pattern is one of the biggest give away's, while it is the sameish, there is just something about it, the black is outlined with gold and the botches are smooth. Tht is the best way i can describe it, If anyone that agrees with me has a better word plz say it lol.It's hard to see in photos however there is a little blue on the anal fin and the pelvic fins. Also on the gill plate there is some blue
