Sexing my jag

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would give a bit more time but that dorsal not start coming to a point its a female. should have more belly marking also. males get pretty dark with the pattern but i do notice with other fish, if he feeling stressed he will never show his full color, i prefer to keep my jags in there own tanks.

I had my 9" female in the 180 for awhile with the oscars, she dulled up, just not showing the bronze we like to see from a happy healthy fish. moved her back to the 75g with some fry, that she has been dinning on. and in a few hours her bronze was coming back and by next day she all bright, red eye,d and vibrant.

lol, JD layed again, they like clock work, every 5 weeks.

I've been told if a male jag has no female it won't colour up as much as it has no one to impress.. not sure how true that is

it is not, male jags are loners per say. they do not stay with a female after a few week of fry becoming free swimmers, they move on. this ware the psychotic male jag comes in, he wants to mate again, and female not ready. she still with fry. but being stuck in a tank, he has no ware to go to find another female. that being the case i kill this one or try to drive off for another.

Would also agree that ginO's jag is female....pic my female to compare...
