Sexing my Synspilum

Hello All! I'm new to the forum and this is my first question ever. This site has helped me tremendously in the past and I'm excited to join it.

Is anyone able to tell me if my Synspilum is male or female? He/she is about 7 or 8 inches.

I hope I'm posting this question in the right place...

Welcome to the forum.

To me it could be a male. Blue eyes seem to be an indicator. It's really hard to tell, because IME you don't know for sure until they get bigger. For comparison here is a male I had when was smaller to 13". I thought he was a female for a long time.

Thanks for your help Cichlidfish. Your synspilum in the first picture looks a lot like mine, so I guess I've got a male. By the way, very nice fish!
