Dammit, I've been duped. Oh well, the mayan's look nice too, and I got them cheap. My 2 are only 1.5" but the spot is oval and the almost the full length.
My female festae changes colors constantly throughout the day depending on mood. Her breeding dress that you see is her typical outfit. When stressed or scared her body turns deep red, and her stripes turn teal blue/green. Being exposed to the male festae gives me the treat of seeing all her colorful glory.
I also have a female festae housed alone. It's the sister of the female pictured above. Her color usually is the typcial female festae colors throughout the entire day, unless stressed. Her colors are actually more vibrant than the girl you see above.
The r. terrors are kinda whitish, pinkish with dark vertical bars, and a big spot near, almost on the tail. Their price just shot up to 8.99 again, from 4.88, I have a 10.00 petland store credit. I think I'll wait a bit, though. They are beutiful looking cichlids even at such a small size.
Well, I should be picking up my red terrors this Thursday. The LFS had ordered red devils and where kinda peeved when I wouldn't take them home. The guy was like "What's the difference?" They said that next time I special order I have to take the fish. I told them that if they ordered the fish I requested I'd have no problem buying them and taking them home!
Anyways, I'm really excited and can't wait to get a red terror into my tank!
