Sexing small angels/discus, is there any way to do it?

I usually find myself getting lucky with random unsexed pairs of fish, which mature into an actual m:f pair and usually pair up. However, for things like discus or angels, if I don't want to take my chances with two random juveniles, spend a few hundred dollars on a group of juveniles, or buy a mated pair, is there any way to make sure I end up with a male and or female?

Nope. Spend the $$. Buy a dozen
Lol hate to say it but I agree. It's near impossible to sex a immature angel or discus, even when they are mature it can be extremely hard to sex them without knowing exactly what to look for. So yeah it's best to just buy a handful and grow em out till they start pairing off with each other. Once paired it's best to remove all the third wheels and allow only the pair to be in the tank.

P.s. just because angels and discus are known for being such dainty and delicate fish, doesn't mean they aren't still cichlids and won't kill each other for breeding rights. They are very mean fish when they have a reason to be mean.
