Sexing This Flowerhorn

The smaller flowerhorn in the pictures is in question. The color looks faded and dark, has no kok, but it does not have the dots on the dorsal fin like a female would so I am not 100% sure if it's female. I really don't wanna check the anal pore... :D

Any second opinion is appreciated.

need to feed him more, power feed for about a month and no stress like it is now then you can look and truly see the fish
 
Most likely a subdominant male. Give him his own space if you want him to start showing his potential too.

I put the fish in a separate tank for about a week an a half now and it's color lightened up a bit...seems to grow a little bit bigger.
 
UPDATE: so I took Fish on Fire's advice and move the little guy out to a separate tank since this post and here is how he(?) looks like now after almost two weeks.
