Hi, folks. I have some umbees from Dan at Cichlids of the Americas in the 7-8” range, and I was hoping that some of the more experienced eyes might be able to help guide me in sexing them. I know they’re a tough fish to sex, but any input would be most appreciated.

First video is of three from his main Umbee bloodline. They’re a group at first and then each parades past individually.

The next is an 8”+ wild-caught specimen:

I can add individual photos if needed. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

At 7-8" they are usually sexable. With that much yellow coloration I'm guessing you have all females but like you said they are hard to sex and can fool people.

Something I’ve noticed is that when they’re in their caves or behind rocks, they’re much darker colored. When they come out into the light, above the light colored sand, they immediately wash out and go pale like that. They’re also not quite so yellow in person, but these Kessil Tuna Sun lights have a green/yellow tint to them.
