So how would you determine the sex of an silver arowana i heard it was the width of the female silver is much bigger than the male which is skinny i would say where the fins are at?
There are ways to make educated guesses, however, there is only one sure way. The one that lays eggs is female. There are a few attributes that are seen... Females can be thicker, males can have a deeper body/throat, males can have longer anal fins, males can be longer... However, these are all things that are indicators, but not sexually exlusive 100% of the time. Males can be thicker, females can have a deep body/throat, females can have longer anal fins, and females can be longer. However, males cannot lay eggs.ethnics;625691;625691 said:nope. no way of telling, some say the males have bigger jaws for holding the eggs, some say females are fatter since they are the ones that lay the eggs. but there's no real way of telling. jus keep them long enough n hope they pair off n dont fight
